Woot! Woot!
Hey. I’m Laura, your Joy Warrior!
Did you know a Michigan State University art professor once told me I had no concept of color? I’ve sold a few thousand paintings so I guess I get to have the last laugh. That professor did get one thing right about me. She said I definitely like going to the beat of my own drum. It’s the Joy Warrior beat – Boom, haha, boom, haha, boom, haha, smile. Do you hear it, too?
I hope you like to laugh and smile and sing because that’s what this art is meant to do. Sometimes just a splash of color on the walls is all it takes to turn your day around.
I Believe…
I believe life is too short for plain, white walls.
I believe in random acts of kindness and hugs.
I believe sometimes we have to fight for our Joy.
I believe we are all one.
I believe in the law of attraction and one world and the great spirit and the universe.
I believe in messages from the other side and energy after we die.
I believe everyone is colorful, some just hide their colors.
I believe in little moments and synchronicity and magic and miracles.
I believe I am the loudest person at the bar (when I want to be).
I believe walking your dogs is how you repay them for their unconditional love.
I believe the spirits like talking to me because they know I will listen.
I believe people drop coins on purpose because I find so many on my walks with the dogs.
I believe in other people.
I believe in learning more and more.
Quick Bio
I grew up in Jackson, Michigan, got my degree from Michigan State (Go Green! Go White!), and moved south to Atlanta. I got into mountain biking (and was pretty good for an amateur back then). I’ve lived in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee, but the place that calls me home is Crested Butte, Colorado. I’ve lived here twice without a roof, once in a ’77 Chevy Van and more recently in Blackie the Stallion, my favorite truck. My spirit belongs here. My brother says there is a special place in doggie heaven for me, I guess because I always have several dogs in my family, many who chose me more than I chose them. That’s why you see so many dogs and mountains in my art. I’ve been an artist since I was a little girl, and a professional artist since 1993. I look forward to being an artist for you.
Cheers y’all!
